Peru, El Progreso, Washed

Finca Carmenpata is located in Mesapata, Cusco, hidden away in the eastern Andes Mountains. Surrounded by steep slopes and forests, the farm is completely secluded from the rest of the world. So it is in all solitude that Wilson Mamani Contreras and his wife run their 2 ha farm. They grow a select few varieties that thrive at high altitudes in the cool Andes climate. This Geisha was grown at 2050 masl, handpicked and pulped the same day and then dried on trays with some of the mucilage left on for 16 days. While the growing and processing conditions are excellent, it is the transportation of coffee that presents the biggest issue. After processing, coffee is carried away on mules who can maneuver their way down and transferred to a Valle Inca Depot where it rests to await export.
This coffee was imported by Sucafina.
