Brazil, Fazenda Lagoinha, Natural Anaerobic
Lagoinha Farm has a legacy of over a hundred years in coffee production, originally established by a local family in the picturesque South Minas region. In 2019, the farm began a new chapter when it was purchased by long-time business partners Matheus Avellar and Carlos Eduardo Canellas. Under their ownership, and with the leadership of Matheus’ wife, Tatiana Reis, the farm underwent a complete transformation. Tatiana introduced modern management techniques, comprehensive employee training, and a focus on specialty coffee production. These efforts have preserved the farm’s historical roots while propelling it into the forefront of high-quality, sustainable coffee farming.
Lagoinha Farm has seen significant improvements in its operations since its acquisition. With 20% of its coffee fields irrigated by a drip system, the farm balances traditional and modern agricultural techniques to optimize water usage and crop health. The harvest season runs from June to September, with a combination of mechanical harvesting for larger areas and manual harvesting for microlots and younger trees, ensuring the utmost care is given to specialty coffees. The farm’s diverse coffee varieties, including Yellow Catuaí, Mundo Novo, Arara, and Geisha, are processed using natural, honey, and fermented methods, resulting in a wide array of exceptional coffee profiles. These advancements reflect Lagoinha Farm’s dedication to quality and sustainability.
