Nicaragua, Finca Bethania, Washed
EUR
Finca Bethania is a 42 hectare large farm in Macueliza, in the famous coffee region Nueva Segovia. The farm was established in 1991, lies at 1350 to 1500 masl and is run by two women, Martha and Ana Albir, third-generation coffee growers. In previous times, their family owned other lands as well, but these were taken away from them by the government after the Nicaraguan revolution in the seventies. Unfortunately, many other families suffered the same fate. Martha and Ana also run their own on-site dry mill Cafetos de Segovia, which they founded in 2015 when they were done with receiving too low cherry prices for their product. What started out as a dry mill business for themselves and family farms, turned into an operation for local producers. Today, 47 producers from Nueva Segovia deliver their cherries to their dry mill. This Java was grown at Finca Bethania, washed and delivered to Cafetos de Segovia as wet parchment, where it was dried in the shade on nets on patios for 5 days, and then in the sun.Â
This coffee was sourced through our importing partner Falcon Coffees.
