Ecuador, Cruz Loma, Washed
Galo and Alexandra Morales have run Cruz Loma for 20 years now and almost 10 years ago they made the switch to specialty coffee. This makes their recent palmares even more impressive: they finished 1st in the Taza Dorada in 2022 and 2nd in 2023; and they finished 3rd in the Cup of Excellence in 2023. Cruz Loma is located in the Province of Pichincha, in the Andes highlands near the Pichincha volcano. The volcanic soil provides a fertile, nutritious environment for the plants to thrive in. Coffee is grown at 1450 masl and harvest season takes place from May until July, after which the cherries are brought to the family’s dry mill in Quito. Here, the coffee is traditionally washed, dried and finally quality checked before export.
It is the second year we are working with Galo and Alexandra and they recently bought another farm, so we look forward to showcasing even more of their work in the future.
